Dr. Börner has maintained a continued interest in and advises on German and international transactions, key industrial ventures and industrial and financial regulation, with a special focus on energy issues.

After studies of law, economics, orientalistics at the universities of Cologne and Bonn and after military service he was admitted to the bar in 1981. He served as an in-house counsel to Ruhrgas AG dealing with energy law, legislation and economics as well as exploration projects, from 1982 to 1984 and as the general counsel of Aachener und Münchener Versicherung AG and -group from 1984 to 1987. Then he practiced in Düsseldorf, since 1989 together with his late father in the law firm Börner & Börner. In 1998 he was admitted to the Cologne Court of Appeals and has relocated the firm to Cologne. In 2023 the firm was elocated to Bad Ems.

He is the author of numerous publications and a member of a couple of appropriate professional and scientific organizations. Languages: English - French - some Arabic
